When Douglas Spale, a Black man adopted into a mixed-race family from Nebraska, heard a request for more diverse role models in the upland hunting world, he answered the call. What came next was an incredible bond between himself and a young budding hunter that was forged over bird dogs, whirring wings, and the upland landscapes that are so important to both new and seasoned hunters and conservationists alike.
Working with film mentor, Erik Petersen and Buckshot Collective to film this amazing story in Montana was a blessing to tell their story and feel a whole lot of heart.
